relations with the Argentine Chapter of IEEE, with whom SADIO have an agreement by which
IEEE members participate in SADIO activities in the same conditions of SADIO members.
1.2.- Review of TC membership:
.With the perspective of being reinstated as a Full Member of IFIP,
SADIO is preparing itself to reassume and reinforce its participation in the Technical
Comities. In particular
- TC1:
Joost Heinz, member of the universities of Buenos aires and Cantabria, is
already involved in TC1, currently as an observer.
- TC2:
Originally, the current Secretary of TC2, Armando Haeberer, was
nominated as representative of SADIO. Having SADIO downgraded its membership status,
Haeberer passed to represent Brasil. Currently we are working in involving more argentine
technicians in TC2 activities.
- TC7:
Hugo Scolnick, member of the University of Buenos Aires, is already involved in
this Committee.
The Council of SADIO is talking with other experts, to involve them in
TCs activities after reinstating SADIO's Full Membership.

PART II: Input to IFIP:
2.1.- In our home page < http://www.sadio.org.ar/28jaiio/28jaiioc.html >, we have set links
pointing to IFIP and its TC6. This practice of linking IFIP members with IFIP and IFIP
with its members using links of the Web, could well install a possibility of exchanging
information among IT communities of different regions.
2.2.- As we already stated in our answer of 5/8/98 to input to the Strategic
Planning Process, we still think that it would be important:
- To develop and conduct locally, a range of STATE OF THE ART TUTORIALS on leading edges
in specific fields. (this is beginning to became a reality ; in our 28th Annual
Congress TC6 of IFIP will be present as we stated above).
- To gather experts and conduct and publish discussions locally, on the trends of leading
edge technologies.
- To reinforce the presence and visibility of IFIP in national activities of its Member
Societies by means of visits of authorities and experts who could promote international
contacts and activities.
